Hanceville police seeking help to identify two burglars
CULLMAN — Hanceville Police investigators are requesting the public’s help to identify two men who burglarized a local business Friday.
Capt. Jimmy Rodgers of the Hanceville Police Department said the two suspects broke into the Jet Pep service station on Highway 31 and Johnson’s Crossing at approximately 11:23 p.m. They were traveling in a 1993 to 1997 Lincoln Mark 8.
The suspect who forcibly entered the business is described as a white male in his late 20s, approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall and 150 pounds, with short brown hair. His accomplice, who drove the vehicle, is described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds with dark hair.
“We are asking for any tips from the community,” Rodgers said. “We’ll act on anything we get.”
According to video surveillance at the scene, after driving up to the front of the business, one of the suspects exited the vehicle and smashed the front door window with a large rock.
Rodgers noted that the store alarm did not activate.
“Nobody knew about the burglary until the next day,” Rodgers said.
After smashing the window, Rodgers said the suspect entered the business and took 20 cartons of cigarettes and the cash register drawer, which contained about $200.
“He was not even in there three minutes,” Rodgers said.
The suspects then drove away on Highway 31 South.
