Good Hope man arrested for marijuana trafficking
CULLMAN — A Good Hope man is behind bars after deputies allegedly recovered $88,000 in marijuana plants and a small amount of methamphetamine at his home on Harbison Drive.
John Ulatowski, 46, was arrested Nov. 16 and charged with marijuana trafficking and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
“Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) executed a search warrant at his residence, because we had received some information on an indoor marijuana grow,” Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden said. “We recovered 44 marijuana plants and growing equipment inside the residence. There was also a small amount of methamphetamine found inside the residence.”
Roden said the arrest came about after a short investigation by CNET agents.
“CNET received some information from various individuals that there might be this kind of activity at the residence,” he said. “It was not a lengthy investigation and they eventually developed probable cause for a search warrant.”
Roden said all of the deputies involved in the case did well to close out the investigation.
“It’s a credit to them for doing their jobs and making the arrest,” he said.
Ulatowski is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center, with a $1 million bond.
