A Baileyton man accused of murdering his wife in March will undergo a mental evaluation before his case can be set for trial.
Cullman County circuit judge Don Hardeman ordered the evaluation on Michael Wayne Lindsay, 48, at Lindsay’s arraignment Thursday.
Lindsay has been held at the Cullman County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond since being released from UAB for injuries he allegedly inflicted on himself in a March altercation.
His wife, 31 year-old Tammy Lynn Lindsay, died of stab wounds she sustained in the incident. Police said she was found dead at a neighbor’s home on School House Road, where officers responded to a 911 domestic disturbance call placed shortly after midnight on March 15.
Hours before the alleged killing, Michael Lindsay had been released from Walker Baptist Medical Center, where he had been ordered into mental treatment by the Cullman County probate judge.
A court official said court-ordered mental evaluations are typically referred to the Taylor Hardin secure medical facility in Tuscaloosa.
