CULLMAN — A national restaurant franchise is reportedly eyeing Cullman to open a new location. Logan’s Roadhouse, based in Nashville, Tenn., has a deal in the works to build a new restaurant on Alabama Highway 157, near the 310 exit on Interstate 65.

Company officials have applied to the City of Cullman Zoning Board of Adjustments for a parking variance at 6092 Alabama Highway 157. The proposed site is the former Baxter’s Steakhouse property, most recently occupied by China Buffet. The format of the variance request would indicate the project is being handled directly by the Logan’s company.

A public hearing for the variance petition is scheduled for Feb. 20 at city hall.

If the Logan’s deal closes, it will be the latest in a string of new restaurant franchises coming to Cullman. Two restaurants — Moe’s Original BBQ and Shane’s Rib Shack — have also recently announced plans to come to Cullman.

When contacted by The Times Wednesday, city economic officials could not comment on the Logan’s project due to the fact that it is still being negotiated.

Messages left at the Logan’s Roadhouse corporate office seeking additional information were not returned.

Most Cullman residents are likely familiar with the franchise, which operates 20 restaurants in the state of Alabama.

Logan’s Roadhouse currently owns and operates over 180 company-operated restaurants, along with 26 franchised Logan’s Roadhouse restaurants in 23 states. The company was founded in 1991.
