CULLMAN —
One more political forum tonight in Vinemont concludes the series as mayoral candidates square off at the Windsock Cafe at the Cullman Regional Airport.
The event gets under way at 6 p.m. There’s no admission cost and dining is optional. The forums have been well attended and feature the mayoral candidates fielding a series of questions from The Cullman Times and the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee.

Developing stories include a pending legal action concerning an 80-acre tract of land in West Point. Mayor Kenneth Kilgo announced last week that a family was donating the land to the town to develop for public use, but that action may be derailed in civil court.
Look ahead for additional stories on the area’s candidates, the pending legal alcohol sales vote in Good Hope, and a recap of voting times for the area’s municipalities. The elections are Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Also, a delegation of local Republicans are headed for the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., with one serving as a delegate and two others as alternates.
WEATHER
Not a cloud in the sky through the weekend as temperatures remain in the high 80s to 90, with lows falling below 70 degrees. The next chance of rain is Monday.
ROADS
City street department crews will continue working on 5th Avenue SE between 4th and 5th streets. Additional work is scheduled at Harrison Street NW, Austin Avenue SW, an Dripping Springs Road.
