CULLMAN — Good morning, readers, take a look at what’s going on today:


The Cullman City Street Department’s patch crew will be working on Oak Dr. and 10th Ave. SE.


Today: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. 

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 69. Calm wind.

Best bets for today:

CERA to meet: The Cullman Education Retirees Association will meet at 11 a.m. today in the dining room at the Benedictine Retreat Center, 916 Convent Road, Cullman 35055. Robert Davis, president of Alabama Education Retirees Association, will be guest speaker. Lunch reservations: Peggy McClendon at 256-747-2460 before noon Monday, June 16. Parking is now available at the rear of the retreat center.

Kids’ summer camps: The North Alabama Agriplex (1714 Talley Ho Street, Cullman 35055) is now accepting registration for children’s summer camps. They are as follows:

Preschool Garden Camp for ages 3 to 5; and Elementary Garden Camp for ages 6 to 10; both groups will meet 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays; through July 23. Campers will work in raised beds at the Agriplex and take projects home to grown. Cost is $35/child; adults free.

Touring Farms for Kids for ages 7 to 13; 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. June 18-19. Two days of farm tours around Cullman County. Food, snacks and T-shirts will be provided. Everyone attending must fill out a registration form and play — including adults. Parents may attend if desired, but not necessary. Parents may ride the bus if seats are available, but otherwise will be responsible for own transporation. Cost is $25/person.

Macramé workshop: The Cullman Fiber Guild will hold a workshop on macraméing a plant hanger, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Peinhardt Living History Farm. For ages 13 and older.
