Second missing dog found following I-65 crash

CULLMAN — A second dog that has been missing since a car crash almost two weeks ago was found on Friday, after her playmate was rescued a few days ago by searchers.

Nashville, Tennessee, natives Seth and Olivia Hatfield and their two dogs were traveling through Cullman on June 29 when their 2004 Honda was involved in an accident with a 2007 Peterbilt around mile marker 299 on Interstate 65.

Seth was treated and released shortly after the accident, though Olivia sustained more serious injuries during in the crash.

When the accident occurred, their two dogs ran away from the scene — though volunteers have now recovered both pets. Their Weimaraner Mollie was found in Hanceville by volunteers on Tuesday, while their smaller, mixed breed dog Claire was found Friday by a professional tracker.

Local groups such as the Cullman County Emergency Management Agency and Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce all pitched in to raise awareness of the search.
