IT'S A RUNOFF: Shedd will face Alldredge for GOP nod in District 11 (FINAL TOTALS FOR ALL 3 COUNTIES)

CULLMAN —

9:20 p.m.: Final totals. The final tally confirms it will be a runoff between Randall Shedd and Danny Alldredge for the GOP nod for District 11 in the Alabama House of Representatives.  The winner faces Democrat Kelly Evans in an upcoming specially-called general election. See the final totals for all three counties below:

Cullman County:

  • Randall Shedd: 1,584 votes and 52%
  • Danny Alldredge: 779 votes and 26%
  • Lydia Haynes: 497 votes and 16%
  • Mike Graves: 174 votes and 6%

Morgan County:

DANNY ALLDREDGE . . . . . . . . 57 19.59
MIKE GRAVES. . . . . . . . . . 77 26.46
LYDIA HAYNES . . . . . . . . . 64 21.99
RANDALL SHEDD . . . . . . . . . 93 31.96

Blount County:

DANNY ALLDREDGE . . . . . . . . 221 44.83
MIKE GRAVES. . . . . . . . . . 27 5.48
LYDIA HAYNES . . . . . . . . . 122 24.75
RANDALL SHEDD . . . . . . . . . 123 24.95

9:10 a.m.: It was close, but initial totals indicate Randall Shedd did not finish with enough votes to avoid a runoff for District 11. Shedd won approximately 47 percent of the vote, with Alldredge at 24 percent. The two will now face off in a runoff for the Republican nomination. Lydia Haynes placed third and Mike Graves placed fourth overall. Final totals coming soon.

8:55 p.m.: We are still waiting for the final Cullman County box, but Morgan County is now reporting final numbers. Shedd won out in the county, which will only help his chances to clinch the nomination outright. Mike Graves also had a strong showing in Morgan County, scoring his only second place finish in the three counties that make up the district:

DANNY ALLDREDGE . . . . . . . . 57 19.59%
MIKE GRAVES. . . . . . . . . . 77 26.46%
LYDIA HAYNES . . . . . . . . . 64 21.99%
RANDALL SHEDD . . . . . . . . . 93 31.96%

8:39 p.m.: The final Cullman County box has arrived at the court house from Fairview. Results expected shortly. If Shedd has a strong showing, it could push him over the top with more than 51 percent of the vote, meaning he would win the Republican nomination outright. If Shedd fails to clinch 51 percent of the vote, a runoff will be required between him and the closest competing candidate, currently Danny Alldredge.

8:33 p.m.: Randall Shedd has a heavy overall lead, but the other candidates could force a runoff between Shedd and Danny Alldredge. It's still too close to call on whether or not a runoff will be required. Final totals from Blount County only make the results more murky, with Alldredge winning the majority of votes in that county:

DANNY ALLDREDGE . . . . . . . . 221 44.83
MIKE GRAVES. . . . . . . . . . 27 5.48
LYDIA HAYNES . . . . . . . . . 122 24.75
RANDALL SHEDD . . . . . . . . . 123 24.95

New totals from Morgan County have also been released with 6 of 8 boxes reporting. Shedd holds a comfortable margin there. With one box remaining in Cullman County, Shedd has approximately 50 percent of the vote:

DANNY ALLDREDGE . . . . . . . . 57 19.72
MIKE GRAVES. . . . . . . . . . 77 26.64
LYDIA HAYNES . . . . . . . . . 62 21.45
RANDALL SHEDD . . . . . . . . . 93 32.18

8:25 p.m.: Randall Shedd continues to build on his lead with 17 of 19 ballot boxes (one of which is provisional) reporting in Cullman County. Shedd looks to win the county, with Alldredge giving a strong showing in second place. The race looks to be close enough to force a runoff, likely between Shedd and Alldredge:

  • Randall Shedd: 1,348
  • Danny Alldredge: 726
  • Lydia Haynes: 434
  • Mike Graves: 151

8:18 p.m.: The first ballot boxes from Morgan County are now rolling in. With 3 of 8 boxes reporting, Randall Shedd is leading. Combined with Shedd's Cullman County numbers, he has a substantial lead. Read on for numbers from Cullman County:

  • Lydia Haynes: 295 votes
  • Mike Graves: 98 votes

8:05 p.m.: Alldredge takes lead in Blount County with 5 of 8 boxes reporting, but its not enough of a margin to overtake Shedd's lead with Cullman voters:

RANDALL SHEDD . . . . . . . . . 32 31.37%
