The Cullman County Commission held a special meeting Wednesday morning to discuss four agenda items, which were all quickly approved, including terminating the bid with McPherson Oil Company for county worker’s gas.
Commission Chair Kenneth Walker said the meeting was smooth sailing as the members were able to approve all items on the agenda and move forward with several projects including approving the Citizen Participation Plan for the Community Development Block Grant program.
“I think everything went well, we were going over the participation of the citizens of Cullman County in dealing with getting the grant for fixing roads that were damaged by the tornado in 2011,” Walker said. “Another note, we’re no longer going to use McPherson oil company out of Trussville. We had trouble with our water department running out of gas, and not receiving the amount we requested for the water department’s daily duties. With the service we were getting out of them, we decided we had to change companies to service our needs. We will let the second lowest bidder, Edison Petroleum out of Cullman, have it.”
The commission did vote to adopt an updated citizen participation plan which made for the application process to begin in gaining the CDBG grant to fix damaged roads.
A public hearing regarding community development , housing needs, the CDBG program and the application process was set for July 9 at 10 a.m. at the regular commission meeting.
The Commission approved:
Terminated Bid number 1111 for unleaded gas and off-road diesel fuel with McPherson Oil Company.
Awarded Bid Number 1111 for unleaded gas and off-road diesel fuel to second lowest bidder Edison Petroleum.
Citizen Participation Plan for the Community Development Block Grant Program.
Adopted the updated version of the Citizen Participation Plan. (Resolution 2013-41).
Set a public hearing for July 9 at 10 a.m.
