CULLMAN —
Alabama State Troopers have arrested and charged a Cullman man with DUI following a Friday night accident in Vinemont that claimed the life of an 8-year-old Kentucky girl.
Kenneth Burns, 45, of Cullman, was arrested for DUI following the accident., Alabama State Troopers confirmed on Monday.
State Trooper public information officer Curtis Somerville said that an ongoing vehicular homicide investigation will yield further advancements in the case.
“We are going to continue investigating the wreck, and as we move toward closing the investigation we’ll turn the information over the Cullman County district attorney,” he said. “From there he may be subject to more charges.”
The accident occurred on U.S. 31 at about 9:45 p.m. on Friday. Hayley Ryan, 8, of Louisville, Ky., was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m.
