CULLMAN — Authorities are questioning the jailed suspect in Sunday's bomb threats, which caused the evacuation of Cullman Regional Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office arrested Jeremy Lewayne Lang just past midnight early Monday morning. He had reportedly escaped from Arab police in Marshall County at approximately 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.
Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey said Lang hitched a ride with unsuspecting motorists and made his way here. When Lang was apprehended, he was in possession of a gas can, a cigarette lighter and a siphoning hose.
Details about the suspect are just now surfacing, but he had recently been extradited from Florida on domestic violence warrants, Rainey said. The sheriff said the investigation will reveal more of the suspect's intent and arrival in Cullman County.
"The city's investigators will interview him. We're also in the process of getting the 911 conversation sent to us from Marshall County," Rainey said. "The threats were made through Marshall County and included a bomb threat for Cullman Regional Medical Center."
Rainey said his department received special assistance in making the arrest of Lang from Jimmy Miller of the Marshall County District Attorney's office and Mike Acquaviva of the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
