Two men charged with selling drugs from home

By Patrick McCreless

Narcotics agents arrested two people Monday for allegedly selling drugs in Hanceville.

Members of the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) arrested Ronald Bevington, 41, of Hanceville and Justin Floyd, 19, of Cullman on grand jury indictments for four counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Bevington was also charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance in the second degree and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Police say the two men were selling methamphetamine out of a home in Hanceville.

“When CNET agents went to arrest Bevington, he had approximately 3 grams of meth and some ingredients to make meth,” said Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden. “He has a history of some drug arrests.”

The two were arrested at Bevington’s residence, located on Ashwander Street in Hanceville.

“We feel we have a strong case that we have made, and we appreciate the hard work of our narcotics enforcement team,” Roden said.

Roden said CNET agents had been investigating Floyd and Bevington’s alleged activities at the Hanceville residence for approximately six months.

“We learned about it mainly from information from the public about what might be going on at that residence,” Roden said.

Roden said investigators considered the arrests to be significant blows to drug dealing in the community.

“We feel it was substantial amounts,” Roden said of the alleged drugs sold in the case. “Of course to us, any amount of drugs sold is a large quantity.”

Bevington is incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center on separate $1 million and $60,000 bonds. Floyd is incarcerated on a $60,000 bond.

Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance in the second degree are Class B felonies, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
