CULLMAN — Man wounded in shooting improves

A Fairview area man who was shot in the head a week ago during a fight has been upgraded to good condition and moved to a private room at Huntsville Hospital.

Charles Richard Stapleton was shot behind the ear with a .45 caliber pistol in the yard of a residence near Fairview on a week ago today. He was airlifted to Huntsville after the incident.

His brother, Robert Stapleton Jr. was also wounded and received treatment from a hospital and was released.

The alleged shooter Richard Lee Turney, 55, was injured, but not from a gunshot wound. He was treated and released from Cullman Regional Medical Center.

The case remains under investigation. No charges have been filed by the sheriff’s office.
