Power being restored in Fairview, Holly Pond areas after Sunday storms

CULLMAN — Work is under way to finish restoring power in areas of Holly Pond and Fairview after a line of storms Sunday uprooted trees, broke large limbs and damaged power lines.

Brian Lacy, a spokesman for the Cullman County Electric Cooperative, said 2,000-3,000 customers were without power at one time Sunday night.

“The storm came through from the south end of the county and made its way into the Holly Pond and Fairview areas between 5:30 and 6 p.m.,” Lacy said. “We had power lines down where Highway 91 meets (U.S. Highway) 278. We received numerous calls of tree limbs on power lines.”

Updates on power-related issues will be reported throughout the day.
