For all retired teachers: Garlan Gudger will be the special guest speaker at the next Cullman Educators Retirees Association, 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Retreat Center, 916 Convent Road, Cullman 35055. His topic will be Cullman Restoration from the Aug. 27 storm in Cullman City. This progress report will include damages from the storm, areas being developed now and projected dates of completion. President Don Green encourages good attendance; also, dues are due. For reservations, contact Peggy McClendon.

Heads up, horse lovers! The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is currently selling tickets for a chance to win a custom saddle by Running P Saddlery, to be given away at the Dec. 8 Cullman County Sheriff’s Jimmy Arrington Memorial Rodeo. Tickets are $1 a piece or $5 for 6 tickets and are sold at the back entrance of the Cullman County Courthouse (parking lot side). All proceeds to benefit the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Special Projects Fund.
Meal assistance applications available: Free and reduced price meal applications for children in Cullman County Schools under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program for the 2012-13 school year are available at the Cullman County Board of Education and/or at the local schools offices.
