Organizers proud to make Celebrate Cullman annual event

CULLMAN — Though Celebrate Cullman organizers were worried about the weather for much of the day Friday (luckily, the rain held off and the clouds gave way), there is one thing fans of the downtown street festival shouldn’t worry about: The event ever going away.

If the notation of “Second Annual” wasn’t proof enough, former Cullman Downtown Merchants Association (CDMA) President Ron Pierce wanted to make something clear Friday night, as thousands poured into Cullman.

“It’s an annual event, for sure,” Pierce said. “This is a great thing for Cullman and a great thing for downtown.”

The inaugural event came together last year, with just a few months of planning by the recently-founded CDMA, as a way for business and civic leaders alike to promote growth and healing as dozens of businesses tried to build back.

For year two, organizers wanted to build off what worked, and open the event up even more.

“We tried to offer more with the children’s activities, and add more live music and things like that,” current CDMA President Nathan Anderson said.

It’s a bit too early to say what could be on tap for year three, but organizers say they’re excited to find out.
