Cullman County man remains in intensive care after Friday shooting

CULLMAN — A Cullman County man who was shot during a Friday evening altercation near Fairview remains in Huntsville Hospital’s intensive care unit where he was listed in fair condition Monday, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Charles Richard Stapleton, 45, was airlifted to Huntsville with a gunshot wound to his head following an incident Friday night involving his brother, Robert Stapleton Jr., 55, and Richard Lee Turney, 55. Both Turney and Stapleton Jr. were treated for their injuries and released from area hospitals. The incident took place on County Road 1547, just north of the Fairview community.

The case is still under investigation by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Department. No charges have been filed.
