Two men were injured Wednesday afternoon when a truck collided with their vehicle head-on before slamming into a building during a wreck at Alabama 69 South and U.S. 278. West.
The two men in a black Acura sedan suffered minor injuries. A Cullman Emergency Medical Services ambulance took one to Cullman Regional Medical Center, and the other was expected to go to the hospital by private vehicle, authorities said. The Ford Ranger’s two occupants declined to be taken the hospital, according to Berlin Volunteer Fire Department firefighters who responded to the wreck.
Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey said he was on his way home when he came upon the scene where Alabama 69 runs into U.S. 278.
“I drove by and saw a man laying in the grass, and I thought he must have been in a wreck and was hurt,” Rainey said.
The Ford Ranger was apparently trying to turn into East Side Upholstery from U.S. 278 when it collided with the Acura sedan that was traveling eastbound on Alabama 69 toward the intersection, Rainey said.
After hitting the car, the truck slammed into the metal building where East Side Upholstery operates, while the car came to rest in the business’ gravel parking lot, facing northwest.
Rainey said a male and female were in the truck and two males were in the car. Alabama State Trooper Joshua Cox responded to investigate the accident.
