CULLMAN — Good morning, readers, this is what's happening in your county today:


The City of Cullman Sewer Department closed Mary Jane Drive NW and Rosemont Ave. NW closed between Rose St. NW and Maple Drive NW on Monday, Sept. 16, for sewer line reconstruction. This road will be closed for approximately 3 to 4 weeks but will be open to local traffic only. The City of Cullman Water Department apologizes for this inconvenience, but it is necessary to perform this maintenance.


Today: Sunny, with a high near 88. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

CCMGAI: The Cullman County Master Gardeners, Inc., will meet at 10 a.m. in the County Extension conference room, 402 Arnold St. NE, Cullman 35055. Raydonna will present a cooking program. Cullman County Commission on Education: The Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Cullman County Board of Education, central office board room, 402 Arnold St. NE, Cullman 35055. Work session at 5:30 p.m.

Cullman Iris/Daylily Society: The Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. at The Angler restaurant, 3261 County Road 438, Cullman 35057. All interested may attend.

Community dance: The Midway Community Center will hold a dance at 7 p.m. featuring the Classic Country Band. Admission is $4; all proceeds go to upkeep of community center, 164 Midway Road, Union Grove 35175.

NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Cullman Chapter, will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Cullman Mental Healthcare, Building 2, 1909 Commerce Ave., Cullman 35055. Guest speaker is Steve Sides of Cullman Housing Authority.

New Vision Support Group: The group will meet at 10 a.m. at Hilltop Senior Center, 1545 Vine Circle SW, Cullman 35055. Bring something to share for lunch. Program: Brenda Fox, singer. Info: Linda Estes at 256-739-4653.
