Best bets for today and beyond:

Pancake breakfast: The Hanceville Lions Club will sell hotcake plates from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Moody Center, 111 Michelle St. NW, Hanceville 35077. $5/person for all you can eat. All proceeds to go to the Billy Raw scholarship fund, sponsored by the Lions Club.

VFW Saturday night dance: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2214 will have a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the VFW. Music will be provided by the Boogie Night band. The cost is $5 per person. VFW building rentals are available Fridays. Info: Commander Randy McGraw at 256-590-9405.

Boston butt/rib sale: The Dodge City Lions Club will sell Boston butts and ribs at 8 a.m. July 3, 2013, until all meats are sold at the lot next to the S&S Foods in Dodge City (4340 County Road 216, Hanceville 35077). Butts are $25 and rack of ribs are $20. Proceeds to benefit Lions’ community projects.

Farmers market open July 4: The Festhalle Farmers Market at the corner of Arnold Street and 1st Ave. NE, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 4.
