CULLMAN —
State Rep. Jeremy Oden will be stepping down from his seat to accept an appointment to the Alabama Public Service Commission.
The appointment of Oden by Gov. Robert Bentley is effective Monday, Dec. 3.
Oden, a Republican from Vinemont, has represented state House District 11 since 1998.
“It has been an honor for me to serve the people of District 11 for the past 14 years,” Oden said. “They have supported me, and I did my best to represent them in Montgomery. I thank them for their support, and I look forward to continuing to serve them in this statewide office. I also want to thank Governor Bentley for the confidence he has in me to serve in this new role,” Oden said.
Oden’s professional experience includes having served as a branch manager and vice president for Eva Bank in Cullman. He is also an ordained minister and served as a business owner for several years.
The governor will call a special election to fill the District 11 seat. The timetable for the election will be announced at a later date.
