CULLMAN — A local motorcyclist is still in critical condition after he collided with another vehicle in Cullman last week.
Capt. Max Bartlett of the Cullman Police Department said Jasper Lindsey, 36, of Vinemont was still in intensive care at a hospital in Hunstville as of Monday.
“As far as I know ... I talked to the family ... he’s still in serious condition,” Bartlett said.
According to Cullman Police reports, the wreck occurred at approximately 12:07 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 North and 12th Way. Witnesses stated seeing Lindsey traveling northbound on Highway 31 when it collided with a yellow Nissan SUV that was pulling off of 12th Way to cross the highway.
“We do believe speed was a factor in the accident,” Bartlett said.
After the accident, Lindsey was taken by Air Evac to the hospital.
The driver of the Nissan, Carol Johnston, 45, of Bremen was not injured.
Police Chief Kenny Culpepper said his officers and an Alabama State Trooper wreck reconstruction specialist returned to the crash scene Saturday to learn more about the accident.
“They do tests to get estimates for the skid factor, to determine the speeds of vehicles, things like that,” Culpepper said.
Further details on the wreck were not available by The Times’ deadline because the accident reconstruction report had not been completed.
