A long line of people stretched from the first floor room and down the hall to the middle of the entrance way at the Cullman County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon.
But they weren't waiting to renew their car tag, nor were they there to pay property taxes.
Instead, this group — made up of family, friends, and colleagues — was waiting to congratulate and welcome Kenneth Walker to his new role as Cullman County Commission Chairman.
"It's just an honor to be sworn in as chair of the Cullman County Commission," Walker said. "I think Darrell (Hicks), Stanley (Yarbrough), and I will work well together for the betterment of Cullman County."
Roughly 140 people packed the lobby and entrance earlier in the morning for Walker's official swearing in by Judge Greg Nicholas, which was assisted by his wife Trina, and mother Marie.
