2 charged in separate meth cases

CULLMAN — A Bremen man is facing a slew of charges, including one meth manufacturing charge, after narcotics officers and sheriff’s deputies arrested him Wednesday on a domestic disturbance call in southwest Cullman County.

Brian Walter Guthrie, 42, remains in the Cullman County detention center on a $1 million bond following the arrest, which stemmed from a domestic violence call originating from the Bremen residence of a relative.

Cullman County sheriff’s patrol deputy Bethany Shaddrix and Sgt. Matt Bales responded at the residence, located on County Road 18, and, according to sheriff Mike Rainey, discovered an active methamphetamine lab allegedly in Bales’ possession.

Officers with the Cullman County Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) were called to the scene to process the lab.

Guthrie was charged with third-degree domestic violence, harassment and first-degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance. He was also charged on a warrant for allegedly failing to appear on a prior drug paraphernalia possession arrest.

Neither Guthrie or the alleged victim, whose identity was not released, was injured in the arrest.

In a separate Wednesday case, a Cullman woman is in jail after CNET narcotics officers arrested her at her Eva Road residence on three warrants for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, including methamphetamine and opiates.

Jessica Lynn Hutchinson, 31, is being held in the Cullman County detention center on a $90,000 bond after CNET officers arrested her without incident Wednesday.
