Christmas in Cullman could bring stormy weather

CULLMAN —

Christmas day could be a warm and stormy one for the Cullman area, as a severe weather system moves north and east from the Texas gulf coast.

The storms are expected to spawn tornadoes in lower Alabama. Forecasters with the National Weather Service issued an advisory Monday that left open the possibility for tornadic activity along a line that, depending on the path the storms follow, could include Cullman County.

Any severe weather Cullman may see will likely unfold after lunchtime and throughout the afternoon on Christmas day. Even without severe weather, the Cullman area is expected to receive up to an inch of rain on Tuesday, with a high temperature in the upper 50s.

The Times will update with any new information as the storms approach.
