Police arrested a Cullman County man after a short pursuit Wednesday night.
Elijah James Goodwin, 24, of Crane Hill, was taken into custody and charged with attempting to elude and driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to Craig Green, assistant chief of police with the Cullman Police Department, officer Clint Sanford saw a maroon Ford F-150 heading toward him traveling on the wrong side of the road while on patrol.
“As officer Sanford turned around to pull him over, Goodwin proceeded to accelerate, and passed an SUV that was stopped at the intersection of Alabama 69 and Swafford Road,” Green said.
From there, Goodwin turned right and headed east on Swafford, where Green said the chase continued for roughly a half mile before Goodwin got stuck pulling into a driveway.
“We appreciate the hard work of Clint,” Green said. “We’re happy the person is in jail where he needs to be and that there were no injuries.”
