Disabled veterans can get some help with their benefits: The DAV Mobile Service Office program is bringing free services to Cullman to help disabled American veterans with their benefits. Those interested may go to the DAV building at 1794 County Road 715, Hanceville 35077 (at Phelan) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 19, and speak to a professional about free assistance with benefits claims.
Calling all county educators: The Cullman County Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Cullman County Board of Education, 402 Arnold St. NE, Cullman 35055. Work session at 5:30 p.m.
An important tax division meeting for the community will be held at Dodge City Town Hall, 130 Howard Circle, Hanceville, 35077 at 7 p.m. for all citizens in the towns of Good Hope, Dodge City and Colony. Topic: Division of taxes between the City of Cullman, the smaller municipalities and the county. Mayor Kenneth Kilgo of West Point will lead the program. Questions welcome.

Feel the need for speed while cutting the grass? The Fullthrottle Lawnmower Association, a nonprofit organization, will hold a lawnmower race Saturday, July 21, with all proceeds going to Freedom Baptist Church in Carbon Hill. $5 admission fee. The race will be held at 7 p.m. at 1179 4th Ave. NE, Carbon Hill 35549 (gate opens at 5 p.m.). Mowers out of Tennessee and Mobile will be at the race.
