Can’t get enough politics?
The next local political forum is tonight in Dodge City at the Iron Skillet. Mayoral candidates will face a barrage of questions about their intent for public office.
Sponsored by the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee and The Cullman Times, the event gets under way at 6 p.m.
The forums will continue next week, Monday-Thursday, covering mayoral candidates in Baileyton, West Point, Cullman and Vinemont.
Motorists should watch for a variety of activities along area roads today. City of Cullman crews are still working on a section of road along 5th St. SE, as well as patching holes on 1st St and 13th NE. Striping is also under way around the city schools.
A reminder from county road officials: the bridge at County Road 301 is closed. Work has reached about the half-way point in that area. County workers will also be mowing along various county roads today.
Look for increasing clouds today. The high will reach the 90s. Clouds will continue overnight, bringing a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
By Friday, showers and thunderstorms are likely, according to the National Weather Service.
St. Bernard Prep students return to school today. Most area students will begin classes Monday.
Area law enforcement officials are asking drivers to use caution in their morning and afternoon commutes as traffic will become more congested with schools starting back for the new year.
