Money was the central topic during Monday’s Hanceville City Council meeting.
First on the night’s agenda was a $13,841.50 bid for new fencing for the city’s public pool. Mayor Katie Whitley said the pool’s current fencing had rusted considerably.
“For liability’s sake, we need a new fence put up,” Whitley said.
After approving the fence bid, the council agreed to spend approximately $3,000 for two sets of turnout gear for the Hanceville Fire Department.
The council then approved a resolution, allowing the park and recreation department to apply for a $100,000 grant.
In other business:
‰ the council donated surplus park department property to the Mission Possible Store.
‰ The council agreed to give the Pee-Wee Association access to the C.W. Day Park for practice during the 2008 season.
