A Falkville man faces burglary charges after he allegedly broke into a neighbor’s home Monday while armed and intoxicated.
Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Harold Harden, 50 at the scene and charged him with burglary in the first degree.
Sheriff reports indicate the victim made a complaint about the alleged break-in around 2:47 p.m. while near her residence, located on County Road 1258. The victim stated a man broke into her home carrying a rifle.
“He pushed her down with the gun in his hand,” said Chief Deputy Tony Quick. “The victim escaped the residence and called dispatch.”
Quick said when a deputy arrived at the scene, he witnessed a man exiting the residence.
“He (deputy) stopped him and found he was the one who had broken into the house,” Quick said.
Further investigation revealed the suspect, while intoxicated, allegedly broke a window before he entered the home through the front door.
“The weapon he had entered the house with was found inside the house,” Quick said. The gun was in there loaded.”
No shots were fired during the incident and the victim was not injured.
Quick said no items were taken from the residence.
“We don’t know what his (Harden) intentions were,” Quick said.
Harden is incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center.
Burglary in the first degree is a Class A felony, punishable by up to life in prison.
