CULLMAN — Cullman Fire Rescue continues to battle a blaze at a Cullman home, which has been raging for nearly two hours.
Located on Loch Drive, across from Cullman Regional Medical Center, the home caught fire at approximately 7 p.m. First responders searched the bottom floor of the home for any survivors upon arrival, but could not reach the second floor before the roof partially collapsed.
Cullman Police have confirmed the owner of the home, Margaret Goodrich, is vacationing in Louisiana and was not at the house when the fire occured.
Authorites were initially unsure if she was in the home when the fire started, or away running earrands. Reports from the scene indicate one car was present outside the house, though neighbors say the woman owns two vehicles. Neighbors say the woman lives alone.
Authorities say it could be several hours until they are able to enter the home due to structural integrity issues.
A large section of the roof collapsed, and officials say the home is likely a total loss.
Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
