Man injured in off-road accident identified

CULLMAN — The man involved in an off-road accident Monday in Cullman has been identified.

The driver, John Hazard, 21, of Cullman, was found in a wooded area by officer Kyle Farmer, said Police Chief Kenny Culpepper.

Hazard apparently was driving in a wooded area in a four-wheel-drive vehicle near People's Bank along Alabama Highway 157 when he ran into a six-foot-deep ditch, police reported.

“We learned about the accident when a friend of the man called and said he had received a call from Mr. Hazard and seemed disoriented around 5:25 p.m.,” Culpepper said. “We understand he had just recently moved here from Ohio.”

Hazard was flown by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
