NASA team hunts for meteorite in Cullman

CULLMAN — A team from NASA is searching for a meteorite that was seen streaking across the northern Alabama sky.

The team from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration was looking in an area northwest of Cullman on Wednesday.

Marshall Space and Flight Center meteor expert Bill Cooke tells WBRC-TV that the team hasn’t found any obvious meteorites. Still, Cooke says the team collected some unusual samples.

Cooke says NASA is working to alert property owners of what may be on their land before releasing a more specific location of where the meteorite might be.
