10-mile yard sale starts Friday

Bargain hunters will be out in full force this weekend at the 10th annual 10-mile yard sale located along Gold Ridge Road in Cullman

“The day begins early Friday morning and goes until late Saturday,” said Joann Smith, owner of Dad’s Place.

Sellers will set up along Gold Ridge Road from Highway 69 to Etha Church. People hold yard sales in their front yards and many people set up in the parking lot of Dad’s Place.

“Dad’s Place has already filled up most of its 55 yard sale spots for sellers,” Smith said.

This will be the tenth year for the annual event, which got its start from the World’s Longest Yard Sale which stretches annually from Noccalula Falls through the Appalachian Mountains to Covington, Ky.

A variety of items will be available from antiques and tools, to DVD’s, furniture, plants and jewelry plus many other things.

“We are expecting a bigger crowd even though the economy is still bad,” Smith said.

The market has received national attention with guests coming from across the Southeast to be part of it.

“We have received calls from all over Alabama and more,” Smith said.

Smith said there will be something for everyone.

“Ten miles is very doable so go on this hunting journey and have fun with the whole family,” Smith said. “There is always a treasure to be found and you could be the lucky one to find it among this once a year sale.”

Food vendors will be set up at Dad’s Place as well as throughout the sale route.

“Our yard will be filled and we are expecting a good crowd,” Smith said.
