State highway officials will host a meeting Thursday to gather information and opinions in advance of a highway-widening project in east Cullman County.
The meeting, sponsored by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), will give interested parties an opportunity to share their views on the forthcoming widening of U.S. Highway 278 in Cullman County, a project that will extend eastward to the Blount County line that four-lane portion of the road that currently terminates west of the Duck River.
The format for the meeting is open, with no speeches or presentations planned. Instead, the floor will be open for questions and comments, either spoken or in writing, to be fielded by ALDOT officials in attendance. Preliminary maps and tentative project schedules will also be available.
In addition to fielding input at the meeting, ALDOT will also accept comments — which will become part of the official project record — within ten days following the meeting. Officials at the meeting will have information on how comments may be forwarded to ALDOT.
The session is scheduled for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, located at 12476 U.S. Highway 278 East in Holly Pond.
