2 arrested for meth manufacturing in connection with November drug bust

CULLMAN — Two Cullman County residents are behind bars after being arrested for alleged meth manufacturing, stemming from an investigation dating back to early November.

William Paul Black, 40, and Christoper Odel Taylor, 21, have both been charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Their arrests relate to the November arrest of Tony Hyde, at his residence on County Road 1485, where he led police on a brief foot chase before being apprehended for alleged meth manufacturing.

“These two men were just recently charged with manufacturing, which stems from the meth lab case we made against Tony Hyde,” Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden said. “We received some information that others might have been involved with Hyde in that meth lab.”

Roden said his office worked with the local district attorney until arrest warrants could be issued for Black and Taylor.

“Hyde was charged at that time, but we had to do some more work to develop the case and bring charges against these two,” he said.

On November 12, Hyde allegedly ran from Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) agents at his residence. During the chase, Hyde allegedly threw a bag full of meth making materials at the agents and then briefly resisted apprehension.

No completed meth was found at the scene.

Both Black and Taylor are being held at the Cullman County Detention Center on $1 million bonds.

Unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance in the first degree is a Class A felony, punishable by up to life in prison.
