MOULTON —
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation Thursday arrested Moulton Police Officer Mitchell Breland, 27, on two counts of torture and willfull abuse of a child under the age of 18.
Breland was arrested at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office in Moulton. Moulton Police Chief Lyndon McWhorter requested the investigation, which was based on allegations and information received by the police chief's office, according to a statement released by the ABI, which is a division of the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
Following his arrest, Breland was placed in the Lawrence County Jail. No additional information is available as this is an ongoing investigation, according to the ABI.
