Man arrested on sex abuse charge
Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested a Logan man for sex abuse that allegedly occurred 20 years ago.
Clovis Randell Aderhold, 52, was arrested on a June Cullman County grand jury indictment for sexual abuse in the first degree.
Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden said the case had been under investigation since the female victim, whose name was not released, reported the incident in January.
“I can’t offer any details as to why this wasn’t brought up years ago,” Roden said.
He noted, however, that the length of time between when the incident occurred and when it was reported does not matter since there is no statute of limitations on sexually-related crimes.
The nature of the victim’s relationship to Aderhold was not released.
“The victim is currently an adult, but alleged she was victimized when she was a much younger person,” he said.
Aderhold was incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center, but has since been released on a $20,000 bond.
Cullman County Circuit Court records indicate Aderhold does not yet have an attorney. His arraignment is set for Aug. 3.
Sexual abuse in the first degree is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
