nchandler@cullmantimes.com COLONY — A Colony man was arrested Thursday afternoon after DEA agents along with Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and Cullman County Sheriff’s Special Response Team (SRT) brought a year long investigation to a close. Torrey Traymayne Hawkins, 30, was arrested and charged with Federal indictment of crack cocaine distribution and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after a raid was executed at Hawkins residence located on County Road 38 at around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. “This was good work by all the agencies who worked in partnership to bring this investigation to a close,” Sheriff Tyler Roden said. “We appreciate all the community for their patience in letting us do the investigation. We believe it will and has made the community safer. Roden said at the time of the raid, CNET members discovered and confiscated $1,994 in U.S. currency, 53-grams of crack-cocaine, an ounce of marijuana, ecstasy, Viagra, and Lortabs. Deputies also seized three vehicles including a 2004 Ford Excursion, 2002 Chevy Yukon and a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle. Roden said the total amount of cash, drugs and vehicles seized is close to $100,000. Brant Daniel Evans, 42, of Hanceville was arrested at the scene and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Evans was out on bond following an arrest on Aug. 21, 2007 for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Roden said Evans is currently being held at the Cullman County Detention Center, and Evans would have his bond revoked. Hawkins is currently being held without bail. Roden said due to the nature of the case the location of his incarceration could not be disclosed.
