Planning board approves site for new medical office building By Trent Moore The Cullman Times The proposed site plan for a new Professional Office Building (POB III) at Cullman Regional Medical Center was recently approved by the City of Cullman Planning Commission.
Cullman Building Inspector Rick Fulmer said the approved site for POB III is near the POB II building on the hospital’s campus. “It is adjacent to POB II, right on the corner,” he said. “It will actually be connected by a walkway.” Fulmer clarified that only the proposed site has been approved, and that architectural plans still have to be given a go-ahead before construction can begin. “We’ve just approved the site for the building,” Fulmer said. “They still have to submit drawings for architectural review, which have to go through my office and the fire marshall.” Fulmer said the architectural plan review process takes approximately 10-15 days. Once the plans are approved, construction can begin on the building. POB III will cost approximately $12.5 million, and will be paid for by the future occupants, most notably Cullman Primary Care. The addition will house between 60-70,000 square feet of office space, and increase parking by approximately 350 spaces. The new addition is estimated for completion in the Fall of 2009. The commission also: ‰ Approved a site plan for Carter & Company, located at the corner of Fourth Street SW and Fourth Avenue SW. ‰ Approved a proposed site plan for Santa Fe Cattle Company, on Cherokee Avenue SW. ‰ Approved a proposed site plan for Westminster Assisted Living Facility, at the corner of Main Avenue SW and Olive Street SW. ‰ Approved a proposed site plan for Car-Mart, located at 1634 Brantley Ave. NW. ‰ Held a public hearing for a short-form subdivision for Jerry Galin, on Brantley Ave. NW, to combine two lots into one lot. ‰ Held a public hearing for a short-form subdivision to move property lines on 14th Street SE and East Hanceville Road SE.
