Social Security office moving to new location

The Cullman branch of the Social Security Administration will soon be moving from its current location at the Town Square Shopping Center, to a new office located at 1908 Commerce Avenue NW.

The transition began Monday, and the new location will officially open to the public on August 25.

The old location will remain open during the move — until Friday, August 22.

In a statement released by the office, it has been requested that in-person traffic be reduced to a bare minimum at the old location, due to limited resources during the move.

The new building will be a larger, permanent location for the local office.

In the released statement, customers are encouraged to handle their business online, at the Social Security Administration Web site http://www.socialsecurity.gov.

“They may also call our 800 number to handle their Social Security business at 800-772-1213 during our transition,” the statement said.
