No injuries reported in 3-vehicle accident

By Karen Williamson
The Cullman Times

No one was injured in a three-car accident Friday at Cullman High School, according to Cullman Police Department Officer Nick Harbison.

“It was at 13th Street and 4th Avenue right there by the high school, and two students were involved,” said Harbison.

Harbison did not release the names of the male and female students because they are juveniles.

The male student was driving a 2002 Ford F-150, and the female student was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle. Both students were wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles, according to Harbison.

A third vehicle was involved. Sherry Lynn Speakman was driving a 2004 Buick Rendezvous. There were four people in her car, two of whom were children. All were wearing seat belts.

“The truck was turning left onto 4th Avenue from 13th Street and turned into the path of the Volkswagen,” said Harbison. “After that hit, they slid off onto 4th Avenue and struck Miss Speakman’s vehicle.”

An ambulance did show up, but no one was transported for medical treatment, said Harbison.

“The girl had a few bumps and scrapes, but I don’t think it was anything bad,” said one student.
