Cullman County Sheriff’s investigators recently found a convicted child molester living with children at an unregistered address.

Anthony Howard Lindsey, 53 of Garden City was arrested Tuesday and charged with failure to notify change of address.

Sheriff’s reports indicate investigators discovered Lindsey was living at 805 1st Avenue South in Garden City. However, he was registered to live at 418 10th Street Southwest in Garden City.

“He had small children living at both residences,” said Lt. Phillip Lambert with the sheriff’s office. “He (Lindsey) said he moved because he had children living with him at his previous address. It appears that he had children living at his other address too.”

Lambert said Lindsey had apparently been living at the unregistered address since June 23.

According to the sheriff’s office sex offender registry, Lindsey was convicted on Sept. 28, 1987 of sexual abuse in the first degree. The victim was a 4-year-old female. While serving his sentence, Lindsey was convicted on Nov. 24, 1997 on a separate charge of sexual abuse in the first degree. The victim in that case was a 9-year-old female. Lindsey was released from prison on June 19, 1999. Lambert said further charges against Lindsey are not planned at this time.

“We don’t have any allegations that he’s done anything,” Lambert said. “But he will have to move to another address once he gets out of jail.”

Lindsey is incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center without bond.

A sex offender’s failure to notify a change of address is a Class C felony, punishable by as much as 10 years in prison.

There are currently 136 sex offenders registered with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. All the sex offenders can be viewed at the sheriff office’s web site at www.cullmansheriff.org.
