Times advertising staff wins awards

The advertising department at The Cullman Times earned six awards, including two first-place honors, in the 2007 Alabama Press Association Advertising Contest.

The Times won first place for Best Presentation of ROP Advertising and Best Original/Creative Idea. The overall display advertising award was given to the entire staff, while the Original/Creative Idea award was given to Naomi Smith and Debbie Miller.

Cullman Times Advertising Director Kathy McLeroy said, “We are very honored to have won these awards from The Alabama Press Association. Our Advertising Representatives and Graphic Department here at The Cullman Times are striving each day to bring results to our customers thru their advertising. We are thankful that our customers give us the chance to use our creative staff to develop their advertising campaigns.”

Other awards included:

‰ Second place for Best Single Ad 1/2 page and under — black and white, to Smith and Docia Henderson for “Sheriff of Cullman County ad.”

‰ Second place for Best Classified Display Ad, to Smith and Revonia Dutton for “Classic Automotive, Inc. Jeep ad.”

‰ Third place for Best Creative Advertising Campaign, to Smith and Roger Steele for “Cullman Savings Bank campaign.”

‰ Third place for Best Niche Publication, to Miller and staff for “Taste of Cullman cookbook.”

The winners were announced this week by David Moore, chairman of the APA Advertising Contest Committee. Fifty-one newspapers submitted over 1,200 entries in this year’s content, which was judged by the Louisiana Press Association.

The awards will be presented May 11 at APA’s Advertising Awards Luncheon and Golf Outing at Pine Tree Country Club in Birmingham.
