Authorities recently charged a second suspect with the robbery of a senior citizen Monday night near Colony.

Cullman County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Crystal Dawn Brown, 23 of Hanceville at approximately 8:04 p.m. Wednesday at the Village Inn Apartments. She was charged with robbery in the second degree. Brown was not armed at the time of the arrest and did not resist.

Terry DeWayne Parker, 38 of Hanceville was arrested Tuesday on Johnson Circle in connection with the crime and was also charged with robbery in the second degree.

“I appreciate the followup investigation by my investigators,” said Cullman Sheriff Tyler Roden. “They worked diligently to apprehend the two responsible for this crime.”

Sheriff’s reports indicate the robbery took place between 7 and 9:15 p.m. Monday on Byars Road. The victim was a 74-year-old Cullman County man.

The victim stated to investigators that he knew Parker and Brown and was driving the two in his truck when the incident allegedly occurred. No weapon was used during the robbery, however the victim received minor injuries.

Taken from the victim was a brown leather billfold containing $570 as well as prescriptions for Loritab and Zantax. Investigators have not recovered the stolen items.

After obtaining the money and drugs, Parker and Brown allegedly threw the victim’s car keys into a field and walked away.

Brown and Parker are in the Cullman County Detention Center, each with a $30,000 bond.

Robbery in the second degree is a Class B felony. A person commits the crime of second degree robbery if he or she uses force to take the valuables of an individual and is aided by another person. A Class B felony is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
