patrickm@cullmantimes.com Investigators arrested a Hanceville man Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a local senior citizen the previous day. Terry DeWayne Parker, 38, was charged with robbery in the second degree. Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Johnson Circle. Parker was not armed and did not resist arrest. Sheriff’s reports indicate Parker’s arrest was in reference to a robbery that took place between 7 and 9:15 p.m. Monday on Byars Road near Colony. The victim was a 74-year-old Cullman County man. Chief Investigator Lt. Phillip Lambert said the victim was carrying Parker and a woman in his truck when the incident allegedly occurred. “He knew them,” Lambert said. “He was driving them and they took advantage of him.” No weapon was used during the robbery, however the victim was injured. “They scratched him up a little bit, nothing serious,” Lambert said. Lambert said Parker and the woman, who has been identified but not located, took a brown leather billfold containing $570 from the victim as well as prescriptions for Loritab and Zantax. Investigators have not recovered the stolen items. After obtaining the money and drugs, Lambert said the suspects then threw the victim’s car keys into a field and walked away. Parker is currently in the Cullman County Detention Center with a $30,000 bond. Robbery in the second degree is a Class B felony. A person commits the crime of second degree robbery if he or she uses force to take the valuables of an individual and is aided by another person. A Class B felony is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
