Thanks for community's support

The Cullman Times

CULLMAN — At this time, I want to thank the wonderful people of Cullman for their support during my 8-and-a-half year tenure as superintendent of Cullman City Schools. I am satisfied and proud of the important work we produced together. Our success would not have been possible without your support. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to work in the educational arena for 30 years, 4 months, and I thank Him for bringing me to Cullman, the City of Character. The favor of the Lord rested upon me as He directed the work of my hands (Psalm 90:17) while I served as a math teacher, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, high school principal, and superintendent. I enjoyed every position and every part of my journey working with precious students.

I leave our schools with exemplary principals, dedicated master teachers, and amazing support staff. I leave the business of the Board with the most capable central office leadership team. I take with me treasured memories of my time spent in Cullman with outstanding board members, administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your superintendent. And, thank you for your many acts of kindness, especially during these last few weeks. I am overwhelmed by your expressions of love. It has been the pinnacle of my career to serve as your superintendent.

I offer my best wishes to Cullman’s new superintendent, Dr. Doreen Griffeth. It is my sincere hope that she will enjoy serving as superintendent as much as I did. Wholey and I will always love Cullman. May God continue to bless Cullman City Schools and the City of Cullman.
