LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Hasenbein won't seek District 11 seat

Nothing would honor or humble me more than to have the opportunity to serve the good citizens of House District 11 in our state legislature. It is a district of good, honest salt-of-the-earth people who I think believe in the same beliefs as me and the Democratic Party of Alabama. A belief in the equality of people, the power of education, the dignity of work, and our responsibility to each other. However, at this time I will not be a democratic candidate for the position. My two biggest obligations are to fulfill my commitment of serving the remainder of my term (two years) on the Cullman County School Board. I serve with a wonderful group of caring people and it is an exciting time for our system and its children. I also feel deeply obligated to my work as a classroom teacher at St. Bernard Preparatory School and would not take away time from such a wonderful place to commit the time and effort necessary to run a successful campaign. It would not be fair to both of my present commitments.

Randy Hasenbein
