Voting for a change

CULLMAN — In my 66 years, this is the most important election in my lifetime. Values dictate our choices and the choice is yours. I wish that this were a non-partisan election, but it is not. It is far, far more important than mere politics.

As a Vietnam vet, I want to keep our armed forces strong, stop our troops from being used as the world’s policemen and get the government off of my back.

Has Obama done anything to help small businesses, the single greatest employers and job creators in the U.S.?

The number of major rules. One-hundred six such major new regulations have been adopted, compared to 28 under Bush - a ratio of 3.8 to 1.

The cost of those rules? Rules imposed under the Obama Administration added the $46 billion to the already high annual cost burden from regulation.

Has Obama helped women and their families?

Since President Obama took office, the unemployment rate for women has increased from 7 to 7.5 percent (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 10/10/12).

Food Stamps? The cost of Food Stamps has doubled from $42 billion in 2008 to $85 billion in 2012 and the number of Americans on Food Stamps has increased during the same period from 32 million to 47 million.

Foreign policy? The “Fast and Furious” Mexican Drug Cartel Gun Running fiasco? The Benghazi, Libya, massacre of our ambassador?

Abortions should be unlimited and without restriction. Same-sex marriage and homosexual rights legislation is OK. It is OK to continue to print more money and increase our deficit from $10 trillion to $16 trillion, projected to go up to $20 trillion if he is elected to a second term. These three national policies have destroyed every nation in history that has adopted them...our nation has adopted all three.

So, before you vote, ask yourself these two questions:

Are you better off now than when you were four years ago?

Do you like the direction in which our country is heading?

An honest answer to these two questions will tell you how you should vote. I have had enough and I am not taking it anymore. When all hype is stripped away, we are in a spiritual battle for our future and the future of America. I urge you to pray for our country and about how you should vote..
