Obama is still an empty suit

Barack Obama is making a fool of himself over and over again. After embarrassing himself and us during the British Prime Minister's U.S. visit by returning the Churchill bust and skipping a state dinner and joint news conference with our closest ally, Obama took his stumbling/bumbling act to Europe.

First, he bows before the Muslim King of Saudia Arabia, then gives Queen Elizabeth an iPod with Obama speeches on it, then refers to the United Kingdom (England, Scotland and Wales) as England (careless or ignorant?). Then he says, “I don't know what you call wheeling and dealing in Austrian,” suggesting our community organizer doesn't know the language spoken in Austria is German. Then he proceeds to trash our former president at every turn (bad form when abroad and no class either).

He goes on to apologize for America's past policies and mistakes, conveniently omitting spending our blood and treasure to save Europe in two wars, the millions we spent on the Marshall plan, the billions we spent to give Europe a nuclear umbrella during the cold war, and our leadership in Bosnia, Desert Storm and Iraq.

Finally, Obama says America is not a Christian nation, but embraces all religions. While we tolerate all religions, our nation was founded as a Christian nation and most Americans would agree that we still are.

I don't want a president bowing before other rulers or apologizing for my country. If he weren't so pathetic, he would be funny. The pity is he thinks he is sophisticated, but a growing number of Americans and others are coming to know him as the empty suit 62 million of us knew he was on Election Day.

  • Disregard for the law

In the past few weeks, I have heard that citizens have witnessed Zeb driving himself around the city and county of Cullman. I hope that’s not true, because it would show a blatant disregard for the law.

  • Hospice part of health solution

There’s a lot about health care reform in the news these days. Barack Obama’s call for an overhaul of our nation’s health care system has triggered a national debate on what works and what doesn’t, including how Medicare dollars are spent. It seems like an appropriate time to highlight a part of our health care sector that works, specifically hospice.

  • Open letter to Cullman legislators

It has come to our attention that the Alabama Senate has passed Senate Bill 606 to allow increases in the expense allowances for the mayor and city council of Hanceville during their terms of office. This bill will now be coming to the House of Representatives for consideration.
